Skittles manicure for Make Up Store Lava

Hy everyone! :) I know I said I’m gonna make some stampings with my brand new Kand plate and I will, don’t worry. :) It’s just that I had to test something else before that, because skittles manicure is not really work appropriate, and Kand stamping is, I chose to do skittles first.

When I was in Sweden in August, as usual on any trips, I wanted to get a nail polish souvenir. It means more to me than buying a picture or an object representing local sights and then just collects dust in my room. I take personal pictures of local sights on my own anyway and more importantly, I carry the memories with me all the time. The problem was, Sweden is so darn expensive. Nevertheless, I couldn’t resist buying a beautiful polish by Make Up Store named Lava, especially since it was on the rack of 50% off – it “only” cost me 60 Swedish Crowns (that was 7,29€). For someone that is used to buying low budget polishes that is a lot – but it was well worth it! :) (I have to add, I’ve been to Sweden before and I bought a polish from Make Up Store before, but it was the time when I was in a black polish phase, and now I can’t believe I spent more than 14€ on a black polish with silver shimmer that is as ordinary as any other polish of that color… – true, I wasn’t buying polishes as often as I do now.)

Enough talking, check out the Lava!

Ah, the beauty! :)) I decided to make a skittles manicure to see which colors go best with it!

My right hand:

The polishes I used from pinky to thumb are:

  • Manhattan quick dry 1010N (black creme)
  • Pupa M165 (silver foil)
  • Giordani Gold Crimson (jelly red)
  • S-he stylezone 330 (brown creme)
  • Catrice Coolibri LE C05 Virgin Forest (shimmery bright green)

My left hand:

The polishes I used from thumb to pinky are:

  • Essence Twins 07 Chuck (blue creme)
  • Essence Twins 08 Gabriella (purple creme with blue shimmer)
  • Essence Twins 06 Bella (teal creme)
  • Maybelline Mini Colorama 105 Urban orange (orange with golden shimmer)
  • Maybelline Mini Colorama 100 Urban lemon (creme yellow)

And here are the photos of the result!

I particularly like the effect it has on brown, green, teal, purple and blue! :)

What do you think, do you like flakies?

Kand nail stamping image plate CK-04 review

Hello! I finally have time to write a new post on my blog! :))) I’m so happy about that, because I’ve got something great to show to you ;)

As you know from my previous post, I got contacted by Born Pretty store, an internet nail art retailer. They’ve asked me to review a product for them so they sent me what I longed for for some time now – a Kand nail stamping image plate CK-04! It only took 10 days for the package to arrive to Slovenia!

Other than a bump in the corner the plate was intact and was protected by a blue plastic film which had to be taken off before you could use it:

And here’s what it looks like:

I’m sorry, but I had to take the photo at an angle, otherwise the plate would mirror my camera ;)

After I peeled off the blue film it was time to try it out! :) I only had a short amount of time to do it, so I chose to stamp all the designs on a piece of paper and here you can see what they look like:

I’m so happy I have this, I had no trouble using it except for the very first pattern which has finer lines, but I handled that one as well. The plate is nicely engraved and I can’t wait to use it on my nails (by the way – I find it much easier to stamp designs on nails than on paper for the surface of the nail is much smaller and on paper every bit of excess polish gets shown if you are not careful ;)).

There is one important thing about these Kand plates that the blogger community keeps talking about – the size of these designs. Yes, they are small, but my nails are small and quite short most of the time, I don’t think I’ll have any problems with the size (ok, maybe I’ll have to stamp my thumb nail twice). I only remembered to take a photo of the patterns next to a ruler after I started writing the post ;) so here it is:

NOTD: Essence Unexpected galaxy & Cotton candy mummy tape mani

Hy to all! :)

Today’s manicure is all about the new Essence Colour and change polish number 04 Unexpected galaxy. I’ve seen swatches with added top coat, but I wanted to do something different. I wanted glitter on it too! :)

I chose to use clear top coat on some fingers and Essence Circus Circus 04 Cotton candy pink glitter on others. I followed the Nailside’s tutorial on mummy tape mani (click), and here are the photos!

The Cotton candy glittery polish on violet base color turned out purplish with pink glitter which I like. :)

I actually started doing my right hand first. After trying and ruining two nails with an ordinary tape (the base color stuck to it a bit when I took the tape off) I used a different tape, the one you get in pharmacies as a bandage, and it worked beautifully. Here is my right hand (and on the second photo you can see the peeled off polish on my last two fingers – I left it the way it was because it is not that noticeable in real life and I really didn’t want to do it all over again):

I don’t know if you can see, I played with colors on the left and the right hand (left has mainly clear top coat, only the ring finger has pink, and the right hand has the opposite):

Just some more photos with flash :) :

Overall I really like the color of this Galaxy polish and I really like the contrast between the shades it gives with top coat, plus it is a one coater. What I don’t like is that it is quite thick in my opinion, and it dries for quite some time. I know that this mani is not perfect, but I am pleased with it, I wanted to play with polishes and I did. ^ ^ That’s what mattered to me the most today, to just enjoy in polishes. :)

Do you own any of these new “colour and change” polishes? Have you tried anything similar?
